Safety and Health

One of the Safest Workplaces in Ohio

At Alternalite safety is our top priority, which is why we have such a great Experience Modifier Rate (0.47) with the Ohio BWC.  Accident prevention and control of hazards is the result of a well-designed and -executed safety and health program, which we have developed and consistently adhere to.
  • All project managers and job supervisors are trained and knowledgeable in accident analyses and the safety and health hazards to which employees under their immediate direction may be exposed.
  • We use numerous safeguards to prevent exposure to hazards and protect employees, such as:
  • initial new hire safety orientation
  • job-specific safety training
  • daily safety task analyses
  • personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • weekly "toolbox" safety talks
  • machine guards and safety controls
  • monitoring devices
  • isolation of hazardous areas

No workplace injuries

As a result of our safety efforts, we have not had any workplace injuries since day one!  Alternalite received a special recognition from Representative Dave Greenspan from the Ohio House of Representatives (House District 16) in 2018.  We were also honored as a Safety Achievement winner by the National Electrical Contractors Association in 2018 and 2019.

OSHA training and certification

Jose Ramos, Jr. is certified in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30-hour course and has received countless hours of continuing education and training on construction health and safety practices. In addition, every Journeyman Electrician on our team is certified in either the OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour course.

Jose and our electricians have also successfully completed the Indiana/Kentucky/Ohio Regional Council of Carpenters 8-hour training program in Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA): Construction Trades Best Practices. This training qualifies us for renovation and construction projects in healthcare environments.

Drug-free safety program workplace

Alternalite acknowledges the dangers and costs that alcohol and other chemical abuses create in the electrical contracting industry in terms of safety and productivity. It is our goal to resolve and combat chemical abuse in any form in order to establish and maintain a drug-free, alcohol-free, safe, and healthy work environment for all our employees.

On July 30, 2013, we voluntarily enrolled in the Construction Industry Substance Abuse Program (CISAP) under the collective bargaining agreement between IBEW Local 38 and the Greater Cleveland Chapter of NECA. In addition, on April 28, 2014, we enrolled in the Ohio BWC Drug-Free Safety Program.
Your project deserves an accident-free workplace.
